Strains, sprains and other injuries of tendons and ligaments can be addressed through the use of proper nutrition and supplementation.  When an injury occurs, the body initiates a series of defense mechanisms which is called inflammation.  The body builds a wall-like deposit at the site of the injury which allows excess body fluid to accumulate, this is what we refer to as swelling. This swelling actually impairs the healing process, as adequate blood flow to and from of the injured area is critical in order for reparative agents to reach the site of the damage, and for the toxins to effectively leave.

The therapeutic use of enzymes is an effective way to prevent the spread of the pain and inflammation, as well as speeding up the healing process.  There are specific enzymes which are recommended for various types of injuries.

Diet is also important in healing injuries, adequate intake of complex carbohydrates in the form of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, along with lots of good quality protein, and include plenty of healthy fats, such as are found in avocado, cold water fish, and nuts and seeds.

Natural supplementation plays a major role in the healing process as well.  Essential  fatty acids, antioxidants, amino acids, calcium and magnesium are a just few of the supplements which may be recommended in promoting fast and effective health and healing of tendons and ligaments.

Since everyone is unique an individualized program should be established to optimize healing time and to control pain and inflamation.
