WHAT IS HOLISTIC NUTRITION?

Holistic nutrition is a complimentary health care profession which focuses on prevention, and considers natural methods to promote healing. Holistic Nutrition encompasses body, mind, and spirit in the assessment and support of health and wellness.

WHAT IS BIOCHEMICAL INDIVIDUALITY?

Everyone has unique nutritional needs.  Although we do need the same food factors (eg. protein, carbohydrates, fats, fiber, etc.) we do not all need them in the same proportion or from the same source.  Our ability to digest, absorb, and assimilate nutrients varies widely from person to person.  What may be good for one may not be good for another due to genetic factors, allergies, inttolerance, stressful lifestyles, etc.  This is considered biochemical individuality and holistic nutrition takes this into consideration.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON A FIRST VISIT?

The initial visit will address lifestyle and body clues will be assessed through a series of detailed questionnaires. The assessment also includes  taking an extensive medical history, the main concerns will be considered, and diet, medical history, lifestyle, emotions, exercise, stress and environmental hazards will be discussed.
A powerful, effetive program will be designed to take you from good to great!

WHAT TREATMENTS MAY BE RECOMMENDED?

Natural, complimentary methods to stimulate the body's healing ability will be utilized. Homeopathy, special diets, vitamin and mineral supplements, herbal remedies, and lifestyle recommendations may included in treatment.

DOES HOLISTIC NUTRITION FIT WITH TRADITIONAL WESTERN MEDICINE?

Holistic Nutrition is a complimentary health care modality.  As a holistic nutritionist, I  receive referrals from chiropractors, pediatricians, osteopaths, dentists, MD's, naturopaths, psychologists, and psychiatrists.  If necessary I in turn refer my clients to other health care professionals.

MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness cannot be defined by words. Mindfulness is an experience. It is a means to reclaiming our wholeness.  it is slowing down and being here now.

Mindfulness is awareness. Awareness of the moment, coming back to our bodies completely. It is observation of feelings, emotions, actions. To be mindful, one simply observes the experiences as they occur. It is like watching from a distance, you are aware, but not attached to it.

Judgement is suspended. Events or feelings are neither good or bad, they just are. This detachment is very important in finding the inner calm which is associated with mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness is such a simple concept. When one is observing in the moment, there is a distance, or detachment from the emotions, or associations which we regularly assign to events. Like the scientist in a lab.

Mindfulness cultivates a deep connection with inner self. It offers a peaceful reprieve from the hustle, bustle, highs and lows of the day.

Just take a breath, step back and observe what is occurring in this very moment. Observe your actions, develop the awareness. Come back over and over. It takes some practice, but it is easy. All it takes is the dedication of a few minutes (or moments) each day. Try it, it will offer you a new perspective on your life.

Nancy specializes in helping people develop a mindfulness practice, this is a powerful tool for attaining balance and ease in your life.
